Lot’s in the news: Foreclosures and job losses are down – GREAT! Returned Troubled Asset Relief Program (TARP) money for job creation programs/tax breaks for small business – AWESOME! Of course, the right-wing who’ve complained about the Obama Admin. not giving tax breaks to small businesses are now COMPLAINING about giving tax breaks to small business!

“This idea that we’re going to take this money that’s being paid back to the government and then turn around and spend it on useless government programs is a very big mistake,” he added.

…and on it goes in the U.S. of A.

But the biggest global news has to be the COP15 Climate Summit in Copenhagen. One the countries on the front lines of climate change is the Maldives. Eighty percent of the land lies three feet or less above the waves. The predicted sea level rise caused by global warming could wipe the country off the map. Check out an interview with fifteen-year-old Maldives climate ambassador, Mohamed Axam Maumoon. On his message to the world, Maumoon says, “On the basis that you know what you are doing is wrong and you can see that the victim is begging for mercy…would you commit murder?”

Side Note: 57% of Americans feel that the planet’s atmosphere is warming, a fall from 77% two years ago. I guess the deniers have been doing a great job of sowing seeds of confusion.
